About Me
I'm not into anime much. I like pop culture and arts in general. I'm not picky though; I don't have my little finger up in the air with a van gogh on my wall. But don't expect me to follow an anime related conversation very well ~_^ I just like nice things and places.
Unfortunately my work isn't so nice. I write software for non-destructive testing equipment. Sound fun eh? I'm a software engineer with enough experience to loose the junior tag. The only thing that really motivates me in my work is the travels. I fly all over the place. I've been to Tokyo many times to visit friends there. I've stayed a few months in Shanghai and more so in a few other cities in China. I've also been to India. Too bad my work takes me to far off little villages next to a steel mill ~_~
I've come to anime papers in search of nice looking desktops for my laptop. It's my way of bringing what I love, pop culture, all over the world with me. I'm sorry I wont be contributing papers of my own. I'll try to make it up some other way ^_^
Omnidevil, there are a few small points I\'d like to bring up.
First about the Japanese... Steal your language? Isn\'t that a little harsh? Most advancement in the world came through the free flow of ideas and cultures. The Japaneses learned and modified Chinese writing. They didn\'t steal anything. Are you going to accuse them of stealing Buddhism too?
Modified = taken, from chinese , what is the difference? a choice of words perhaps, I am sure you would not be as defensive if I say they have taken chinese and modified it into Japanese, steal, not steal, doesn\'t matter, we are one and the same at one point.
Also, let us not forget that Korea contributes extensively to Japanese language. Did they steal buddhism? no, they came from a common ancestry, buddhism was born in India, and it travelled worldwide through its disciples.
As for superior language... If I must I\'ll nominate English. Why? Because it\'s simple, flexible and easy to learn. It also has a tendency of absorbing foreign words with little to no modification (sushi, rendezvous). It\'s drawback is how vague it can be, when misused (and this happens quite often). I know French, it sounds really poetic. But as a means of communication I\'ve always found it lacking (not to mention its scarcity in the world).
I mentioned 3 of it being superior languages compared with Japanese. I stand by that opinion. I did not particularly nominate one from my choice of French, Chinese and Latin.
French is an older tongue, but it gave rise to english, the chinese have a quote that says:
:Know the water from which the rivers flows, and know your blood from which your parents had given.
it means: know that something that comes from something older always is lesser superior if not nothing in the eyes of those who know how to appreciate the roots of things.
It is often used to describe how children should understand, without the source (parents), there will not be them in this very world.
The same I felt apply to languages, however good and flexible english is, it has come from many and many contributed to its success, to nominate as the single one superior language, would not be a kind consideration. I cannot change your opinion, but you should understand where I am coming from.
As for Chinese (language), it is overcomplicated. It\'s only saving grace is it\'s large user base. I throw Japanese (language) into this same category. In a world where the ideal is to find simple and elegant solutions, these languages stray far far from the point.
I disagree, many of its words are based off a simple system of learn the basics, unlike many languages, chinese mandarin have a successful base system to learn, namely vowels and tones, once you learn a simple writing say : \"Yi\" you may find more than 6-8 letters that are entirely the same tone, but with different writing, and the writings will be all based on said letter\'s first stroke.
It is not very hard once you learn the basics. Also, most languages do not add a simple root structure that allows modification, namely western languages, we all know that you can\'t invent words out of nothing in your dictionary, but chinese characters have the ability to be modified endlessly, written in a variety of ways, pronounced in a variety of ways for one significant word.
If you consider the wide vocabulary as being over-complicated, I am sure you are mistaken, or haven\'t you at least noted how many foreigners are there who enjoy learning this language? it is easily learned compared with Japanese or Korean, and the mother of those two tongues as well.
I also noted that the chinese vocabulary is wide but there are different levels as well, any one level of learning can easily make you fully suited to speak the language as if it is your natural tongue really.
Mainly there are 3: - the modern chinese = simple to write, easy to read, and very simple vowels and tones lessons will get you on the spot in 6 months time.
Old chinese - my generation considers this the best option, most prints of newspapers in chinese are still done in this, it has history. Should take around 4 years.
Scholar\'s Chinese - the hardest, you will learn how to construct sentences in chinese acronyms and so on. It is very difficult, and you may have to learn old chinese and ever pre-chinese empire cryptic writings, which as you know, is based on animals and natural occurrences.
Intense pain or slow numbness? I'd rather freeze.. will give me time to think things over before I pass out. Besides, like matvaynard said, maybe I could be revived afterwards ^_^
Also .. on a more somber note, at least if I freeze to death there'll be a body for my funeral ~_~
Thank you very much for participating in my thread, "Would you rather die by fire or ice?"

"! This post has been filtered for improved legibility"
I get this as well. I figured it was because I usually use the <TAB> key when starting a new paragraph or just putting two spaces before the first sentence. That is all that I have noticed gets changed when I was seeing that message. I refrain from using indents and now I dont see that message anymore. Could be a coincidence and it was actually something else.

FYI, if you want to friend someone; Go onto their userpage and under "options" the first one will be "add to friends". See I can be perfectly nice and helpful when I choose to be. I

Well, never mind about the friend's list thing since there doesn't seem to be a way to do it at the moment, unless I am just simply too thickheaded to figure it out.

I really like the majority of your posts. I think that they are well thought out, with logic tempered by good conscious. Anyways, just wanted to let you know that someone recognizes your obvious intelligence and appreciates your posts, for you sometimes answer some posts before I get the opportunity and say things better than I would have. I'll add you to my friend's list, though I'm not really sure what that is for, lol. I think two reasons why I agree with you frequently is that we have only a year difference in age, and both left-wingers.

It's QNX 6.3 It's not a home or desktop style operating system; it's mostly used for embeded systems and real-time applications. I really hate the bloody thing but I'm stuck using it for work. At least this newest revision has better hardware support and has a nicer and easier to use GUI.
